How to Plan an Amazingly Simple Teacher Appreciation Week

Teacher Appreciation Week is right around the corner. It is always the first week of May. This week we are discussing some of our best Teacher Appreciation Week ideas and Teacher Appreciation Week themes.

Recognizing how much teachers matter leaves a significant impact on those taking care of our most prized possessions in life. Enhancing the educational environment at your school will help energize the teachers. Setting the stage for your parent volunteers helps them help you! When it comes to parent volunteering, teacher appreciation activities are some of the most rewarding and often most supported by families.

Teacher appreciation week can be an elaborate, weeklong event, or simple gestures from the students. What matters isn’t how much you do but how thoughtfully you do it. We are all busy parents, but Teacher Appreciation Week can be a wonderful week for your school and easier than you may think.

You can do it in just 3 simple steps:

  1. The Plan & Budget

  2. The Theme

  3. The Gifts

At Peake Academy, our plan is super simple. We plan something special for each day of the week. I will include sample printouts of what we did last year in the Peake Creative PA CEO Facebook group and on the Peake Creative website. Here are some fun ideas:

  • Monday - Coffee & Breakfast Bar

  • Tuesday - Notes to Your Teacher

  • Wednesday - A Lunch Buffet

  • Thursday - Flowers for My Teacher

  • Friday - Sweet Treat Bar

Once you have a plan and an idea of how you will gather the needed items, it is now time to come up with a fun theme. This is the fun part and time to get creative! Something that gets the entire school involved.

Some themes we have used in the past are:

  • I teach. What’s Your Super Power?

  • Let’s Falamingle! Thanks for being part of our flock.

  • Hogwarts isn’t hiring so I teach muggles instead.

  • Thanks to my teachers I am a rock star.

  • I teach. What’s your secret ingredient?

You can go super elaborate, and if you do, be sure to ask for lots of parent help. But if you do not have a large parent volunteer base, follow these 3 simple steps. I am excited to share with you lots of information, ideas, and tips to help make your Teacher Appreciation Week efforts the best yet.
